The position is based at the University of Florida's Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience in St. Augustine, FL. Information about the Whitney Laboratory can be found athttp://www.whitney.ufl.edu/ The Schnitzler lab focuses on stem cells and regeneration in the context of genomics and evolution using the colonial cnidarianHydractiniaas a research organism. The project includes creating, screening, and analyzing transgenic reporter lines that focus on stem cell populations. Transgenic lines will be created via embryonic microinjection of reporter constructs. The work will include molecular biology, cellular biology, microscopy imaging, cell sorting, and bioinformatics approaches. The position is guaranteed for two years with the possibility of renewal and is available immediately with a preference to applicants that can start by August 31st, 2024 or earlier. Expected Salary: Salary range follows updated FY 2024 NIH guidelines based on years of experience plus benefits and includes reimbursed moving expenses. Minimum Requirements: A Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology, developmental biology, evolutionary biology, or a related field is required. Desired experience includes molecular and cellular biology and fluorescence imaging techniques. Experience with cnidarians or other marine invertebrate organisms and/or marine genomics would be advantageous. Experience with creating, screening, or working with transgenic reporter lines would be advantageous. Background knowledge and experience with stem cells and/or regeneration would be preferred.
