The 130-acre campus located about two hours from Eugene maintains housing, teaching, and research facilities for University of Oregon students and faculty as well as visiting investigators and students from other institutions. Resident faculty are members of the Department of Biology and research the development, ecology, evolution, and physiology of marine organisms worldwide from the intertidal zone to the deep sea. Courses taught at OIMB are full-day courses with significant field and/or lab components. Information on the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology is atwww.uoregon.edu/~oimb. Position Summary ​​The University of Oregon’s Institute of Marine Biology is seeking applicants for a temporary instructor to ​teach one 3-6 credit course in each of three terms at OIMB, including a Biology of Fishes course, a Biological Oceanography course, and one other course that fits into the marine biology curriculum. This includes developing and teaching all curricula for three courses, including organizing the lectures, field trips, and labs, and working collaboratively with a TA and education support staff at OIMB. ​This is a limited-duration position potentially renewable for up to two years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond two years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Minimum Requirements • PhD in a field of marine science or related field. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in developing curriculum and teaching as the instructor of record at the college level. • Experience incorporating field and lab components into courses. • Experience teaching and/or conducting research in marine biology, specifically oceanography and/or fish biology. • Training in pedagogy and inclusive teaching practices.
